CANVAS Amplify Grants: How to Apply

CANVAS Amplify Grant applications request a Statement of Interest, budget information, optional work samples, and information about your organization (outlined below).

All materials must be submitted by June 6, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time.

1. Statement of Interest

A 2-3 page PDF that outlines the following:

    • A brief description of your organization’s mission, relevant programs, and history.
    • A description of the proposed project, including: the project’s goals, desired outcomes, target audiences and/or artists served, and how the project aligns with CANVAS Amplify Grant goals and objectives.
    • Description of any organizational partners (as applicable). 
    • A brief project timeline.

(Recommended no more than 500-750 words total)

2. Project Budget

In your budget (Excel or PDF), please specify:

  1. The projected costs for the duration of the project.
    • This should align with the timeline stated in your submitted narrative materials.
    • Please be sure to include evidence of direct, fair compensation to the artists/creatives in your project budget.
  2. The projected income supporting the project.
    • A CANVAS grant cannot support more than 50% of the total project costs. (For example, if you are requesting $50,000 from CANVAS, the total income in support of the project must total at least $100,000.)
    • Projected income can include additional funding sources, your own organization’s staff time, or other cash or in-kind resources that support the project.
    • Include notes that specify any secured/committed income, and/or the likelihood of receiving any proposed income.

3. Operational Budget (Current FY) + Actuals (Previous FY)

Please share your organization’s operational budget for the current fiscal year, as well as your organization’s actuals for the previous fiscal year.

Excel or PDF documents accepted.

4. (OPTIONAL) Work Samples

[Optional] 1-2 work samples related to your proposed project (PDF). 

    • These can be in any format you choose (written, visual, video, audio, etc.).
    • This should be no more than 3 pages if a PDF document, or 3 min. or less if in another media format.

5. Documentation of 501c3 / non-profit Status

A PDF with documentation of your organization’s 501c3 / non-profit status (including an agreement letter, as applicable, for fiscal sponsors of programs/projects).

    • CANVAS will be unable to accept proposals submitted from any entities other than 501c3 organizations (and/or fiscal sponsors within that category).

6. Overview of Your Organization

Basic Information about your organization, including:

    • Contact Information,
    • Regions/Audiences/Artists Served
    • CANVAS Funding Amount Requested.
